PROMETEY sowed lentils for the first time. The area under the crop amounted to almost 2 thousand hectares, which is about a tenth of the total amount across the country, the press service of the company said.
"The hardest thing was to find quality seeds for sowing lentils in Ukraine. There are almost none. But we managed to cope with it. Challenges are still ahead. However, we hope that we will be able to collect from 1.5 to 2 tons of yield per hectare", - said the chief agronomist of the company Ilya Troitsky.
Lentils are a crop that suits the Ukrainian climate. In addition, like all legumes, it enriches the soil with nitrogen. It is one of the best precursors for winter wheat and other crops. niche crops are now popular among Ukrainian agrarians. They have a constant demand and a wide market abroad. Lentils grown by PROMETEY agrarians will be sold not only in Ukraine. The company plans to export lentils to Egypt.
