In the agricultural company PROMETEY, farmers have successfully completed sowing sunflower with an incredible result of 5.5 thousand hectares. This was announced by Ilya Troitsky, Chief Agronomist of PROMETEY, AgroPolit.com reports.
The company said that the sunflower sowing campaign lasted 20 days. Ilya Troitsky noted that it was a challenge for farmers due to unfavorable weather conditions, as strong winds have not subsided in Ukraine for the past three weeks.
The chief agronomist of PROMETEY said that the early spring in 2024 forced farmers to start sowing earlier than in previous seasons. Representatives of the company assured that even under unfavorable weather conditions, farmers did their best to ensure high quality and yield of sunflower crops. Ilya Troitsky added that farmers continue to introduce new technologies and plant protection measures to achieve high results. In total, almost 2 million hectares have been planted with sunflower in Ukraine this year.
"For the last three weeks, we have been experiencing very strong winds. They make it difficult to spray the newly sown crops. Farmers had to work even at night. When the wind subsided a little, we managed to spray the crops,” said Ilya Troitsky.
