Raphael Goroian, owner and CEO of Prometey Group, shared his opinion on Ukraine's possible losses due to the naval blockade and shelling of the Danube ports with Bloomberg.com, a leading US news and information provider for global financial markets.
The prospect of losses in Ukraine means that small producers may start to exit the industry and sell assets, said Raphael Goroyan, owner of local trader Prometey Group.
The firm operates in the Danube port of Reni and has been using trucks as temporary storage since Russia attacked the terminals. But drones are now also targeting trucks, and Goroyan expects the strikes to continue. This is in addition to the bottlenecks caused by the changing routes of Black Sea exports.
"The Danube ports are working at the limit of their capacity-they are physically unable to load more, even with large investments," says Goroian, who recently opened a branch in Egypt to support his Ukrainian business. According to him, the use of rail and road routes is also not ideal due to high transit costs through Europe.
